Onboarding guide for public library account holders and staff
The StoryBox User Guide for Library Staff is a practical reference document designed to help library staff confidently support patrons accessing StoryBox, a digital storytelling platform available to library members at home and in the library.
The guide covers four main areas:
Patron login and access. Staff can use this section to walk patrons through the login process, which requires a library card barcode and either an existing catalogue PIN or a StoryBox-generated password. The guide explains that the login flow may look slightly different depending on how a library's account is set up, but reassures staff they don't need to understand the technical details to help a patron get started.
Account Holder features. Some features, including viewing usage statistics, hiding stories, and accessing Story Tools and Resources, are only available to the designated Account Holder (usually a library coordinator or manager). The guide helps staff understand what they can and can't assist with directly.
Content and features. The guide introduces the key content areas patrons and Account Holders can access, including the story library, Read-Along and Auslan series, short films, playlists, and closed captions, with direct links to Help Centre instructions for each.
Promoting StoryBox. A section on community engagement gives staff ready-to-use description copy, downloadable promotional materials (posters, shelf talkers, social media tiles, bookmarks), and advice on linking to StoryBox from library websites.
