Can I add StoryBox Hub to my library catalogue using SCIS?

Adding digital resources such as Storybox Hub to your library catalogue can enrich the search experience for your users and support different learning styles. If you subscribe to both SCIS and StoryBox Hub, you can easily download ready-made catalogue records from SCIS and import them into your library management system (LMS). This allows users to discover both physical books and digital resources through a single catalogue search.

When your catalogue includes records for digital resources, users will see a wider range of materials in their search results. For example, if a teacher searches the catalogue for resources about refugees, they may find not only books in your library but also relevant websites, apps or digital videos.

SCIS makes it simple to download these records:

  1. Go to www.scisdata.com and log in.

  2. Navigate to Downloads → Collections.

  3. Browse the list of curated digital collections on the left-hand side.

  4. Select a category, such as Storybox Hub.

  5. Choose the collection you want and click Download.

  6. Review the list of records.

    • Click the SCIS number to view the catalogue record.

    • Click the title to open the digital resource.

  7. Remove any records that are not relevant to your school by selecting the checkbox and clicking Remove selected records.

  8. When you are satisfied with the list, click Download records.

  9. Save the file to your computer.

  10. Import the file into your LMS using your system’s file import process (contact your LMS vendor if you need help with this step).

Once these records are in your catalogue, users can easily discover StoryBox Hub content alongside physical books. For instance, a search might reveal a picture book such as Room on Our Rock along with its StoryBox Hub video and related teaching resources, giving teachers and students multiple ways to access and engage with the same text.
