Do you support patron access via the SpydusAPI (LCF)?

Yes, we do. If you would like to set up authentication using the SpydusAPI for your public library, please contact our support team with the following information:

  • Customer Key
  • Username
  • Password
  • Institution ID
  • Location Code
  • Authorisation and Patron auth endpoint URLs, or Spydus Subdomain (eg https://XXXX.spydus.com)
  • A test barcode and pin/password

We will confirm when set up is complete. You can also test the connection by:

  1. Making sure you are logged out of StoryBox Hub.
  2. Visiting the library log in page.
  3. Finding your library in the dropdown list.
  4. You should see two fields (Barcode No. and PIN/Password) instead of just one (Public Library Card Number).
  5. Enter a valid barcode number and PIN/password and click 'LOG IN'.

If you experience any issues, please follow up with our support team so that we can help you resolve them.

Notes:

  • If your library is currently using SIP2, we can easily change you over to the SpydusAPI without any noticeable changes for library patrons.
  • If your library is currently using barcode range authentication we can still switch you over to SpydusAPI, however any patrons that logged in prior to the SpydusAPI set up will have registered a password with our site, and from the point of SpydusAPI set up onwards they will need to use their catalogue PIN/password instead.
  • If you're not sure which authentication method your library is currently using with StoryBox Hub, please contact our support team for assistance.
  • Our SpydusAPI integration is based on the Library Communications Framework (LCF) API. If your ILS natively supports the LCF API,  please let our support team know the name of your ILS and we can assess adding compatible authentication.
